The rumour is Mishka was started after two teenagers got their hands on an evil black metal album and played it backwards as a homage to Satan. Others say it was started by two guys called Greg and Mikhail who were sick of doing design work for other people and wanted to follow there own creative direction. There influences are noticably different to other streetwear brands, focusing more on punk rock and horror comics than bling, money and guns. The guys say : We just gravitate towards the obscure and oddball. We understand that only a handful of people will get our references, but we try to balance that by presenting them in a strong visual manner that anyone can enjoy without fully understanding it.....We continue to love what we design. We make things that we want to wear. We are weird oddball kids and I think the brands reflects that.
