With the cold weather fast approaching, we put some of Columbia's latest arrivals to the test.
Founded in 1938 in Portland, Oregon, Columbia has risen to become one of the world's foremost outerwear brands. Originally specialising in headwear, the brand expanded their roster to include jackets, fleece and other outdoor performance wear, as well as sweatshirts, t shirts and trousers in more recent times under their Columbia Sportswear umbrella.
With a selection of the brands' latest arrivals at our disposal we put some key styles to the test in the great outdoors.
First up is the Columbia Challenger Pullover. A revival of an original 90s style, the Challenger Pullover jacket is a medium weight water resistant pullover style. With retro colour-blocking and embroidered branding, it looks every bit as good as it did in the 90s. Functionality is a key attribute of this jacket style, with an oversized front pocket, as well as zippered storage on the arm and plenty of adjustable elements on the cuffs, hem and hood for a customisable fit. If it's a new go-to winter jacket you're after, look no further than the Columbia Challenger Pullover.
Mimicking this colour palette, is the Columbia Fremont Pullover Hoody. With screen printed arm branding, this style has proven to be one of the most popular from the brand this season. The Columbia Fremont Pullover Hoody is sure to keep you warm day-to-day, with drawstrings in the hood, ribbed cuffs and hem and a kangaroo pocket for storage/hand warming when required.
Combining light weight insulation and side zippers for easy on/off the Columbia Lodge Pullover Jacket rivals the best no the market when it comes to retaining heat on cold days. With Thermarator insulation, this water resistant padded style is the perfect companion for those winter walks to work, home, the pub...or wherever you find yourself.
Accessories from Columbia this season come in the form of the Fleece Neck Gaiter. Whether you're battling a brisk commute, or hitting the slopes, the Fleece Neck Gaiter provides a warming relief from those winter gales.
A stand out jacket style for the season is the Monashee Anorak. Once again echoing a strong 90s colour palette this heavyweight piece combines waterproofing with breathable fabric for heat regulation, and the brands Omni-tech nylon fabric. With ample storage options, adjustable cuffs, hood and waist the Monashee Anorak will take you as comfortably from A to B as it would up a mountain, if that's what you're in to.
Finishing the collection is an old Columbia favourite. With sherpa fleece being a must-have material right now, the Mountain Side Heavyweight Fleece in two contrasting multi-coloured camo options, it received a lot of love last year and is back to do the same this year. With elasticated cuffs and hem to retain heat, and a high neck for extra coverage, this retro fleece style is one that won't hang around for long.
So, whether you're battling chilly commutes, planning to conquer some heights this winter, or just looking for a trusty companion to get you to and from the pub on a winters eve, the latest from Columbia has got you covered.
