The Smashing Pumpkins were one of the most diverse bands of 90s. Bursting onto the scene with the help of their second album, 1993's Siamese Dream, Billy Corgan's guitar-heavy fusion of dream pop, shoegaze, metal and everything in between came to define an era.
Around the same time, a 19-year old skater by the name of Keith Hufnagel had just moved to San Francisco from NYC where he'd cut his teeth skating the streets with the likes of Gino Iannucci, Keenan Milton and Jones Keefe.
It seems unlikely the worlds of the two would ever collide, but with Keith going on to found one of the worlds most revered skate brands, the eponymous HUF, and Corgan's Smashing Pumpkins touring the world and building a seemingly never ending fan base throughout the 90s it would seem their respective creative avenues have lead them to meet.
The two forces of creativity have combined, to bring us a collaborative celebration of the 25th anniversary of The Smashing Pumpkins 3rd studio album, Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness. No strangers to a unique collaboration, HUF have tackled joint ventures with the likes of the Stanley Kubrick franchise, Godzilla and Realtree camo so far this year.
The HUF x Smashing Pumpkins capsule collection features an array of graphics, each paying homage to what is arguably the Pumpkins most coveted work. Pulling inspiration from The Smashing Pumpkins iconic work throughout the 90s, this collection adorns the likes of T Shirts, Long Sleeves, Hoodies and Holiday Shirts, with a few unique accessories thrown in for good measure.
