The first in a new string of features from The Chimp Store, our Out & About series aims to shed light on towns and cities up and down the UK with the people that know them best. As well as exploring these places, we'll be putting to the test the latest arrivals at The Chimp Store, showcasing them as they're meant to be worn out in the wild.
Kicking things off in our home city of Leeds, we link up with long time Leeds resident, DJ and sneakerhead Remie Bitton-Price to explore some of the best spots the city has to offer.
The first stop on our tour of the city was Colours May Vary, Leeds' first independent book shop focused on design, typography and illustration. Seen in this location is the Carhartt Fairmount Coat. A suitably stylish option for the clean, minimal space Colours May Vary provides. The Fairmount Coat is a heavyweight, faux-shearling lined beast of a jacket, made up of Carhartt's signature heavy cotton canvas. Perfect for brisk winter winds.
Moving on, the next port of call was The Brunswick for a bite to eat and the chance to pull out a more casual Carhartt style. The Carhartt Prentis Liner jacket is a seasonal favourite from Carhartt, arriving in a slew of colourways, each one as popular as the last. With a stand up collar and signature Carhartt branding the Prentis Liner fleece is finished with elasticated cuffs and hem to retain heat.
Mrs Athas came calling next, the perfect spot in Leeds for specialty tea and coffee. Staying dry on the way called for some more sepcialty outerwear. Looking no further than Oregon's Columbia and their reliable Moashee Anorak. A retro style from the brand, the Monashee Anorak features their built in Omni-tech waterproof fabric. With plenty of storage and adjustable cuffs and hem this jacket is a sure fire winner for the more bitter days.
Soaking up some more cultural delights, we took ourselves to Village Bookshop, equipped with another element-beating jacket from Columbia. The Pike lake Hooded Jacket is a puffer style, insulated with Storm-Lite 100% polyester, guaranteed to keep you warm, dry and stylish.
Leeds' oldest pub came calling as the afternoon thirst set in. Whitelocks, established in 1715 has served the great patrons of Leeds for over 300 years. In stark contrast to our surroundings, we pulled out a piece from one of San Francisco's finest - HUF. The veteran lead skate brand bring us the Taos Reversible Puffer Jacket, with a blue and black paneled side, and all black on the reverse, this 2-in-1 jacket features a branded rubber patch, plenty of zippered storage and poly fill to keep you warm.
Finishing the day with a shape up at Blue Collar Barbers, called for a statement outfit. Thanks to the Obey Post Mock Neck Fleece, Remie was kept looking good whilst staying warm. Shepherd Fairey's eponymous brand stays disrupting the status quo with its message of peace and rebellion subtly woven into this fleece.
You can shop all of Remie's looks online at The Chimp Store now. Special thanks to Remie and our friends across Leeds from all the spots we visited.
